Hazelnut Bike Festival
The Unione Montana Alta Langa and Ciclismo Divino Cycling Team invite you to the third edition of the Hazelnut Bike Festival, an amazing weekend to promote the wonderful hilly area of Alta Langa, a real “open-air” paradise for bicycle and many other outdoor activities. An intensive two-days program where you may find different opportunities to discover our fantastic countryside, UNESCO World Heritage: saturday 18 and sunday 19 will be entirely dedicated to an unforgettable experience on your bicycle and along the unbelievable roads of the Alta Langa. The opening of Bike Festival will occur with the “Climb of the Champions”, an individual time trial in Albaretto della Torre along the impressive via Lesme, a backroad among hazelnut trees surrounded by the Castle of Serralunga and the majestic Alps. The day after (Sunday 19) you can pedal during the “Granfondo Alta Langa”, a 120 km road race (2000 metres in height difference) that allow you to discover some marvellous places of Alta Langa: Cortemilia (the capital of hazelnut), Bergolo and its stone theatre, Prunetto and its majestic castle, Bossolasco (the pearl of the Langhe) will welcome riders who will be adequately trained to complete their effort in Santo Stefano Belbo, the birthplace of Cesare Pavese, one of the most important Italian literate. Alta Langa: a paradise for outdoor but also culture, food and wine tasting and much more… Bikers can ride along the eight “Climbs of the Champions”, a network of steep and challenging climbs dedicated to cycling legends: Jacques Anquetil, Gino Bartali, Louison Bobet, Gianni Bugno, Fausto Coppi, Charly Gaul, Hugo Koblet and Marco Pantani are waiting for you to give away an unforgettable experience. Mountain bikers can have fun at the Alta Langa Bike Park in Rocchetta Belbo, a “playground” for downhill, enduro and cross-country disciplines. Not only bike…the Alta Langa is a paradise also for trekkers: you can walk for many kilometres of unpaved paths, above all the famous “Bar to Bar” (Barolo-Barbaresco) and the “Gran Traversata delle Langhe”. During your stay in Alta Langa you may visit castles, churches, some places celebrated through the literary output by Beppe Fenoglio and Cesare Pavese, two of the greatest Italian writers of the 20th century.
